What is it?
Shin splints, also known as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome, is a type of pain felt at the front of your lower leg/shin bone that is frequent among runners, athletes, dancers, and military recruits who have recently increased or changed their training routines.

Types
The two types of Shin splints are Anterior shin splints (occur in anterior tibialis) and Posterior Shin Splints(occur in posterior tibialis)

Causes
Muscle Imbalance, Tightness in shin muscles, overuse of muscles are major causes of Shin Splints.

Symptoms
The symptoms of Shin Splints are tenderness, slight swelling, pain at the beginning and end of the exercise, and redness.

Consequences if left untreated
If Shin Splints are left untreated it can lead to muscle detaching and a stress fracture.

Treatment
